On this walking tour, we will shoot images to add to the DC by the Book walking tour app and help curate a brand new tour of Mount Vernon. Come and take pictures of Mount Vernon Square locations that have been described in stories and plotted on the DC fiction map at dcbythebook.org.

We will begin this tour with a brief description of the best techniques to capture area locations using any kind of camera, including your smart phone.

The walk tour stops feature eight works of fiction set in the Mount Vernon Square/Shaw neighborhood; All Aunt Hagar’s Children by Edward P. Jones, Cast a Yellow Shadow by Ross Thomas, Damaged by Kia Dupree, Mother of Sorrows by Richard McCann, Shaw by Cora Mack, Shoedog by George Pelecanos, Solo by William Boyd, and Thereafter Johnnie by Carolivia Herron.
