May 15, Map-a-thon with DC Library Assocation, all are welcome
Join DC By the Book Co-Directors Tony Ross and Kim Zablud for a special DCLA “Mapathon” and help bring this new project to life!
Project Background: Launched in March 2013, DC By the Book is an interactive online map that allows anyone to explore and contribute to the landscape of Washington, DC as it has been represented in fiction.
At the mapthon we’ll spend the evening entering passages from fiction set in DC into the new tool. We’ll have a cart of pre-selected books (Fellow Travelers by Thomas Mallon, pretty much everything by George Pelecanos, Silenced by Kia Dupree, The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears by Dinaw Mengestu, just to name a handful) or you’re WELCOME to bring your own.
All likeminded enthusiasts are welcome to join!
When: Wednesday, May 15, 5-7pm (come for all or part)
Where: GW University’s Gelman Library, Special Collections, 7th Floor
What to Bring: A laptop if you have one
RSVP: Encouraged, but not required
*Refreshments will be provided*
Please email Amanda Wilson at email@example.com if you need sign-language interpretation for this event.
We hope that DC By the Book will occupy a special place in the hearts of DC librarians and library professionals. See you there!
